Hey there, fellow adventurers! Gather around because I’ve got a spine-tingling tale to share. It’s about the eerie night I spent trying to find my uncle’s place at the mysterious Sonabheel Tea Estate in Tezpur, Assam. Trust me; it’s the stuff of ghost stories!
So, there I was, embarking on a journey from Guwahati to the Sonabheel Tea Estate. I hopped on an evening bus bound for Arunachal Pradesh, ready for an adventure. Little did I know that adventure was going to take a spooky turn.
As the bus rumbled along the desolate road, the chilly air crept in, making me shiver in my seat. And then, it happened—the bus screeched to a halt, gearbox problem. We were stranded in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by darkness. Time seemed to crawl as I sat there, wondering when help would arrive.
Three long hours passed before another bus came to our rescue. I was dropped off near a signboard that ominously read “Sonabheel Tea Estate.” It was a foggy, bone-chilling night, with the clock ticking past 1 AM. To make matters worse, the road ahead stretched into an abyss of darkness, illuminated only by a distant streetlight.
With trembling nerves, I began my half-kilometer walk down the deserted road. The fog seemed to play tricks on me, making every step uncertain. The croaking of frogs and eerie voices from the shadows sent shivers down my spine. It was like a scene from a horror movie, and I was the unwitting protagonist.
In an attempt to bolster my courage, I lit a cigarette, the glowing ember offering a frail source of light. But then, it happened—a sound that froze my blood. The distant jingle of a bicycle bell echoed through the silence. I strained my eyes to see who it was, but the milkman, ringing his bell, seemed to vanish into thin air, leaving me in utter dread.
Without a second thought, I began sprinting towards the solitary streetlight near my uncle’s house. My breaths came in gasps as I desperately tried to outrun the fear that had taken hold of me.
Finally, I reached my uncle’s place, my heart pounding in my chest. My cousin brother greeted me and then casually dropped a bombshell: the road I had just traversed was rumored to be haunted. He went on to recount spine-chilling tales of ghostly encounters and unexplained phenomena that had occurred on that very path.
Needless to say, I didn’t get much sleep that night. I lay awake, my mind racing with thoughts of what might have happened if I had stopped running. Was it a ghostly apparition, a figment of my imagination, or something far more sinister?
To this day, that haunting journey to Sonabheel Tea Estate remains etched in my memory. It’s a reminder that sometimes, reality can be far scarier than any ghost story. So, if you ever find yourself in a remote, foggy, and ghost-infested place, remember to keep running towards the light—it might just save you from a paranormal encounter you would rather not have!
