10 Fall 2023 Fashion Trends You’ll Love to Wear

Just when the most popular summer fashion trends started to lose their appeal (we’re looking at you, rosettes!), the trends for fall 2023 have arrived to give our style a refreshing makeover. This season, the fashion vibe is all about what’s been coined as “quiet luxury” – think high-quality essentials for your wardrobe that exude understated elegance without screaming for attention. While that’s not entirely off the mark (we did see plenty of trench coats paired with jeans), it’s only part of the story.

What really stole the spotlight on this season’s runways was the dominance of one color: a luscious and deep red, making appearances in almost every fashion show. Much of the styling took a minimalist approach, offering elevated versions of wardrobe staples like casual black leggings, classic white T-shirts, essential fall coats, and cozy sweaters, all put together in clean and refined outfits suitable for work. These ensembles seamlessly transition into winter fashion without missing a beat.

On the flip side, fashion took a more creative turn with art-inspired prints, enchantingly witchy silhouettes, and eye-catching glitzy shoes gracing the runways. And in a delightful fashion flashback, the 2010s style is officially making a comeback; beloved elements from that era, such as peplum and off-the-shoulder tops, have been reimagined for today’s fashion scene. 1. Ready Red:

If you consult any designer, they’ll all echo the same sentiment: red is the color of fall 2023. In contrast to the usual subdued earthy hues we associate with autumn, this season’s red is bold and captivating, effortlessly taking center stage in any room or social media feed. Whether you prefer Wiederhoeft’s striking vermillion, Tory Burch’s vibrant tomato shade, or Ferragamo’s deep garnet, assembling a tonal ensemble that begins with a pair of red flats is the simplest and most effective way to make a fashion statement this season.

2. Sweater Matter:

Not sure if anyone has ever realized this before, but fall is a stellar time to throw on a sweater. Labels like Bottega Veneta, Louis Vuitton, and Victoria Beckham showed perfectly oversized knits styled with exceptionally cozy accoutrements like leggings and winter scarves. If you needed one last sign telling you to add to your collection of jumpers ahead of sweater weather, this is it.

3. Informally  Formal: 

Even if your daily routine doesn’t involve office work, you might discover a penchant for dressing as if it does in the near future. This autumn, the fashion landscape is all about reimagined workplace essentials: think secretary skirts with visible underwear, courtesy of Miu Miu, or extra-long pussy-bow blouses from Givenchy. If you’re inclined towards a touch of ’80s power dressing, both Saint Laurent and Armani have infused their runways with that vibe, complete with shoulder pads. Chances are, you already have everything you need to embrace this trend, but there’s no harm in adding a new blazer or a fresh pair of fall shoes to your collection.

4. Take a Bow: 

Girlhood is currently a major trend in the fashion world, and bows have become a prominent symbol of this aesthetic. Playful, feminine, and subtly rebellious, bows in various sizes can elevate ordinary clothing items, whether it’s a dress, cardigan, or headband, into high-fashion statements. 

5. Metallic Footwear: 

What began as a small summer trend has now exploded into a major obsession with metallic footwear, encompassing sneakers, heels, boots, ballet flats, and more. Despite the prevalence of gold on the fall runways, it’s silver in its flat form that’s stealing the spotlight right now. (In fact, Beyoncé even encouraged her fans to don silver attire during the closing stages of her Renaissance tour.) So, get yourself some shiny chrome shoes and start strutting your stuff.

6. Ruling Off-the-shoulder

Slinky, alluring, and unexpectedly adaptable, off-the-shoulder styles are ready to make a triumphant return this season. Designers like Tory Burch and Paloma Wool have opted for a relatively straightforward approach, while Jonathan Simkhai, Acne Studios, and Carolina Herrera have elevated the look with straps and puff sleeves. Why not flaunt some collarbone this autumn? (You can always wrap up with a scarf if it gets chilly.) Just be sure to invest in a reliable strapless bra.

7. Black Topcoats

Even those who prefer to stay clear of trends can concur that a long, black coat is always a wise choice for the autumn season. Valentino and Ferragamo offered office-appropriate variations, while Coach and Givenchy reinforced the notion that nothing exudes sophistication quite like a turtleneck under a coat. (On the flip side, Prada and Luar encourage a bit of chest exposure, disregarding the chilly breeze.) No insider fashion knowledge or styling expertise is required; these autumn jackets will effortlessly complement your existing wardrobe today and for years to come.

8. Navy + Black

If we adhere to traditional styling rules, navy and black are considered a no-go combination. However, some of the most captivating fall runway displays defied this convention and expertly blended these two hues for striking results. It serves as a valuable reminder: When you have confidence in your choices, there’s room to bend or break the rules. So, don’t hesitate to don a navy blazer with a pair of relaxed black trousers the next time you’re in the mood to explore fashion boundaries, even if it’s just a subtle departure from the norm.

9. Get Artistic:

This season, we witnessed a plethora of runway displays featuring prints that are truly collector-worthy. Stella McCartney showcased luxurious designs featuring horses, while Loewe’s creations adorned dresses with images of other dresses. Paco Rabanne drew inspiration from Dalí’s body of work, and Puppets and Puppets incorporated enlarged images from a Gaspare Traversi painting. It’s evident that art has deeply influenced the world of fashion this season, so why not embrace this trend with these remarkable printed selections?

10. Gothic Love:

As the nights grow longer, it’s the perfect time to embrace your inner witchy vibes. Rodarte set the tone for fashion month with a mesmerizing show, featuring models exuding the aura of a vampiric coven, dressed in exquisite black velvet and lace. This gothic glamour trend continued with blood-red ribbons at Simone Rocha, Adeam’s Wednesday Addams-inspired styling, and Versace’s alluring sheer corsetry. You don’t have to go full Siouxsie Sioux in your daily attire, but incorporating some ribbons, lace, and dramatic collars into your wardrobe can add a touch of that enchanting aesthetic.
